  • Since the inception of the band, the Molotov Sparkler logo has been one of our enduring images. Instead of the firebomb the Pinkerton thugs threw at the James Ranch, killing Frank & Jesse’s little brother and costing their mother an arm, we put a harmless spin on the Molotov cocktail, with a playful sparkler instead of the gasoline-soaked rag.

We decided to put it on a whiskey flask because we have a tradition called “trunk whiskey.” A lot of times when you’re on tour, the bars will give you complimentary beers, but if you want a liquor drink, you have to pay for it. That gets expensive — sometimes your whole cut for a night will be less than the cost of the couple of drinks. Hence, “trunk whiskey.” We keep a bottle or a flask in the trunk and share a shot before a show so we don’t have to buy so many drinks inside. Get one for your cousin's dry wedding.

lyrics

Friends and strangers come together,
seeking solace, laughter, life
They gather round a common table,
where mine is yours and yours is mine
Everyone comes empty, hungry,
the host has plenty of food and wine

The life of the party has plenty of wine

The celebration turns to frenzy,
the food and drink are going fast
Some women worry while the others grumble,
tiny sips will make it last
The thirsty clamor for a quenching,
first in line they won’t be passed

Empty bottles line the tables,
the vestiges of vineyard’s yield
The people fear the party’s ending,
the grapes have left the gardener’s field
But in he walks with barrels bulging,
can’t understand the power he wields

The fruit of the vine is yours and its mine
his barrels of wine, they never decline

This fermented fruit gives freedom
How can it be that death gives life?
